VisArts Closed Due to COVID-19 (March 13-April 5)

March 13, 2020 News

The leadership at the Visual Arts Center of Richmond have decided that it is in the best interest of staff, teachers, students and the larger Richmond community to close its building, starting on Friday, March 13, due to COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. VisArts will remain closed through Sunday, April 5.

VisArts leadership and staff have been monitoring updates by local, state and federal health authorities regarding COVID-19 and the organization has decided to embrace social distancing as a strategy for mitigating the effects of this illness.

“We are a community built on sharing spaces and tools. We also work with populations that are among the most vulnerable to this illness,” said VisArts Executive Director, Stefanie Fedor. “We genuinely care about the health and well-being of everyone who uses our spaces, so we are taking precautions to ensure that our entire community stays safe.”

Closing on March 13 and reopening on April 6 means that the start date of VisArts’ spring session will be delayed by about two weeks. VisArts plans to delay classes, rather than cancelling them. Many classes will need extensions and others will require small adjustments. All students can expect to hear from VisArts’ education team starting the week of March 16.

Further updates will be posted on social media and sent via email. For questions, email info@visarts.org.
