Poet Rosa Castellano Joins VisArts Team as Writing Engagement Coordinator

The Visual Arts Center of Richmond hires Poet and Writer Rosa Castellano to be its Writing Engagement Coordinator. This new contracted role is aimed at supporting the creative writing community at VisArts and beyond. Rosa currently teaches at VisArts and was the writer in residence during the first year of the organization’s Annual Residency program.

As Writing Engagement Coordinator, Rosa will serve to strengthen the creative writing community within VisArts, steward connections within the larger writing community in Richmond, and interact with regional and national writers and organizations. A key function of this role will be conceiving and coordinating events and opportunities throughout the year for individuals to engage with creative writing as well as support VisArts’ creative writer in residence.

Rosa Castellano relocated back to Richmond from Vermont. While living in the Green Mountain state, she led numerous poetry workshops for adults and children and was an active member of the writing community. She spends the bulk of her non-writing time reading (mostly poetry, nonfiction and graphic novels) and adventuring with her husband and four children. She received an MFA in poetry from Virginia Commonwealth University.
