ONSITE: Early Elegies: the Poems of Claudia Emerson
Claudia Emerson's poems have been praised for their craftsmanship, intelligence, lyricism, story telling, and resonance, but such descriptions only scratch the surface. Come experience the poems of Claudia Emerson for yourself. We'll read selections of Emerson's poems from across her career, and we'll write some poems of our own that are inspired by her work. We'll also consider how her writing process, creative influences, and life experiences shaped her poetry.
- Class time will be spent reading and discussing Emerson's poems, as well as workshop discussion of our own work that is inspired by these readings. We will try to make time for a writing exercise each week, but students who wish to complete finished poems should expect to continue writing outside of class time. To get the most out of this class, students may want to do some additional reading outside of class time.
This studio is not wheel chair accessible from the interior due to two steps, but is accessible through an exterior door.
