ONSITE: From Reality to Dreams: Making Surreal Paintings (Ages 12-14)

Surrealism means super-reality. That's because surrealist artwork is based on reality but has been altered to be unreal. In this class, you'll learn how to take photographs and turn them into collages to make surrealist artwork. Then you'll be able to turn those into paintings depicting fantastic things!

Special Notes

  • Students may go outside in the neighborhood for walks.

This is an On-site course. Students must follow social distancing protocols and wear masks at all times. For more info visit
About the Instructor

Grace Mae Huddleston

Hello! I am an artist and educator. My teaching centers around empowering teens and adults of all skill levels to deepen their connection to art making. I have taught in community centers, schools, and universities. My teaching emphasizes technical skill building and I love it when my students put stories, personality, and deeper meaning into their creations. I primarily teach all things 2D from drawing to painting to mixed media but also have experience with textiles and performance art! In my own art practice, I create 2D works that work with creative writing to build fantastical worlds and tell stories.
