ONSITE: Handmade Clay Tiles + Mosaic
Learn to make and design clay tiles using various surface techniques. Use your tiles to make and grout a decorative, ready-to-hang mosaic or mirror!
Special Notes
- Fee covers some underglaze colors, if you would like ot purchase more colors, Merenda will let you know how and where to do that during the first classes.
You will receive 25 pounds of clay; additional clay is available for purchase.
Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
This instructor speaks Spanish, but the class is held in English.

This is an On-site course. Students must follow current Covid-19 protocols, as outlined on our website. For more info visit visarts.org. About the Instructor
Merenda Cecelia
Merenda Cecelia lives in Richmond, Va. She is an artist and state certified art educator with extensive experience in mosaic work including several large installations. She has taught for 12 years in a variety of settings including public and private schools, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, and The Visual Arts Center since graduating with a BFA in Art Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. She also works at the VMFA planning large community events, and when she is not doing that you can find her in the yoga studio or playing in creeks with her son.
