ONSITE: Introduction to Stained Glass

Students will learn the fundamentals of building a stained glass panel or 3D object from start to finish. Lessons will encompass pattern design, glass scoring/breaking, grinding, foiling, soldering, framing, and applying various patinas. Each student will have made at least one piece they can bring home and immediately display at the end of the class.

Special Notes

  • There is lead in the solder used, pregnant students should check with OBGYN before registering. Please wear closed-toe shoes. This class includes a "starter pack" of glass with the supply fee. Additional glass may want to be bought at a later date.

    Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.

    This is an On-site course. Students must follow current Covid-19 protocols, as outlined on our website. For more info visit visarts.org. On-site courses do not come with studio access outside of class time. Paid open studio access is available through our Studio Access Program: if interested please visit visarts.org.
About the Instructor

Nicole Velez

Nicole is a professional stained glass artist specializing in modern designs that are rooted in tradition. She fell in love with stained glass as a child when her father discovered a hidden window in her childhood home. She began her career in 2018 learning at VisArts and now works out of her studio in the Fan.
