ONSITE: Introduction to Wet Felting

Learn and practice foundational wet felting skills that can be used to create 2D and 3D art objects. Wet felting is a process in which you take raw wool fiber and form it into soft objects by agitating the fibers together with soap and water. Projects will include learning how to make felted forms, including beads, and a wet felted collage fusing fabric with wool.

  • Students should be aware that felting takes stamina and we will be standing and rolling which can be laborious. Materials fee includes various colors of wool that the class will share- if you would like specific colors, please order this wool:

    This is an ONSITE course. All onsite students are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Students are expected to adhere to our COVID-19 policies. Onsite courses do not come with studio access outside of class time. Paid open studio access is available through our Studio Access Program. For more info please visit

About the Instructor

Julz Suder

Julz Suder graduated from VCU in 2009 with a BFA in Art Education. She proudly taught elementary and middle school art in public schools for ten years where she developed knowledge of many different types of art media. Her passion is connecting others with their inner creativity and teaching them how to express themselves. She enjoys the stories behind the objects people create, making something from nothing and is a big fan of The Visual Arts Center. When not teaching or spending time with her dogs and husband she loves to felt, collage, sew and drink big cups of hot tea.
