Classes

ONSITE: Wet-Felted Landscapes (this class is only offered a few times a year)

Beginners in this class will use colorful wool roving, soap and friction to create soft landscapes while exploring basic wet felting skills, materials and techniques.  Students will fuse fabric and wool to create a felt rendition of an outdoor place or setting they love or feel inspired by and also have the chance to see many completed samples of what is possible with felting.

Special Notes

  • Bring photos of a landscape you feel inspired by. Please no buildings. Wet felting is physically active, please be prepared to be on your feet most of class.

Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.

This is an On-site course. Students must follow current Covid-19 protocols, as outlined on our website. On-site courses do not come with studio access outside of class time. Paid open studio access is available through our Studio Access Program. Please visit visarts.org for more information.

Julz Suder graduated from VCU in 2009 with a BFA in Art Education. She proudly taught elementary and middle school art in public schools for ten years where she developed knowledge of many different types of art media. Her passion is connecting others with their inner creativity and teaching them how to express themselves. She enjoys the stories behind the objects people create, making something from nothing and is a big fan of The Visual Arts Center. When not teaching or spending time with her dogs and husband she loves to felt, collage, sew and drink big cups of hot tea.
