VisArts Hosts “Meet Your Maker” Event Oct. 20 as Lead-Up to Craft + Design

The Visual Arts Center of Richmond will host a free “Meet Your Maker” event on Thursday, Oct. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. as a lead-up to the organization’s Craft + Design Show in November.

Four local artists, all of whom are exhibiting their work at Craft + Design, will offer demonstrations and sell select pieces. Glass artist Sean Donlon, woodworker Daniel Rickey, ceramicist Ruchi Gupta and jewelry artist Caitie Sellers will be on site.

Craft beer by Craft + Design’s three beer sponsors—Ardent Craft Ales, Hardywood Park Craft Brewery and Strangeways Brewing—will be available, along with wine.

As a special one-night promotion, VisArts will offer Craft + Design tickets to the general public at member prices. Weekend passes are $100, Patrons’ Preview tickets are $80, Rise + Shine tickets are $25 and general admission tickets are $10. The offer is good for in-person ticket sales only.

Commemorative Craft + Design bracelets by Craft + Design’s featured artist, Ashley Buchanan, will also be available at the event. Buchanan has designed a series of three powder-coated bracelets in black, white and VisArts’ signature turquoise. The bracelets sell for $35 each of three for $90, and VisArts receives 10 percent of the proceeds from each sale.
