Over 650 student artists and their families gathered at VisArts for a closing reception of the 2018 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.

Families explored the Scholastics Exhibition in VisArts’ True F. Luck Gallery and throughout the building, then Gold Key Award winners gathered at Binford Middle School for a closing ceremony. The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards are the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious recognition program for creative students in grades 7–12.

As the affiliate partner for the Richmond area, VisArts received submissions from students at schools in Richmond City, Hanover County, Henrico County and Chesterfield County. Over 900 creative teens in grades 7 through 12 received regional honors. The exhibition ran from Saturday, Feb. 17 through Sunday, Feb. 25.
