VisArts’ Updated Mask Policy to Take Effect March 14

March 11, 2022 News

Richmond, VA. (Mar. 10, 2022) — The Visual Arts Center of Richmond is updating its masking policy to align with CDC COVID-19 Community Level Guidelines beginning Monday, March 14, 2022.

Starting Monday, March 14, 2022, mask-wearing within the Visual Arts Center of Richmond will be optional based on CDC Community Level Guidelines. Guests are welcome to wear a mask at any time and complimentary masks are available at the front desk.

The CDC has updated the way it monitors COVID-19’s impact on communities. COVID-19 Community Levels can be low, medium, or high and are determined by looking at hospital data, and the total number of new COVID-19 cases in an area. The City of Richmond and surrounding counties are currently green, which means a low COVID-19 Community Level.

CDC-informed color-coded signage that indicates VisArts COVID-19 Community Levels will be posted on the entrances of the building. Please check VisArts’ COVID-19 policy page for up-to-the-minute community level updates by county, and adhere to the color-coded signage posted at VisArts entrances. VisArts’ indoor masking policy can change based on community risk levels as determined by the CDC. If community levels rise to red/high, masks will be required indoors.

VisArts may choose to implement separate COVID-19 safety policies for select community partnership programs, especially those serving immunocompromised individuals. These policy decisions will be made by VisArts staff in collaboration with partnering organizations and groups. As for youth programming such as ArtVenture Summer Camp, the VDH and CDC have yet to release specific COVID-19 safety guidance for camp programs but VisArts staff are in communication with VDH representatives and will work to align policies with these VDH and CDC recommendations when they are available.

VisArts continues to require proof of vaccination for all adults ages 18+ who work and teach in the building. Beginning March 28th, 2022, VisArts will require that all adults ages 18+ be fully vaccinated, as defined by the CDC, in order to attend in-person classes or participate in a studio access program. Individuals must provide proof of vaccination and have this verified before they can attend their first class or work in VisArts studios.

There are 3 Ways to Submit proof of Vaccination:

  • Upload proof of vaccination via VisArts’ website.
  • Email a picture of the front and back of your vaccination card to vaccination@visarts.org

Show your vaccination card in person to VisArts staff at our front desk
