Policies and Values

Registration + Cancellation Policies

You can read our full policies here to learn more about class confirmations, waitlists, transfers, refunds and more on our registration policy page.

Behavior

Fun and awesome artmaking is only possible when there are behavior guidelines. Students are expected to show respect for fellow campers, volunteers, staff, themselves and VisArts’ facilities. Staff and teachers will always try to positively intervene and redirect student behavior. Staff will reach out to parents or guardians when needed. If this behavior persists, campers may be removed from the program with no refund. Due to safety concerns, excessive disruptive behavior and physical aggression are not tolerated.

Student Safety

The safety of our community is our number one priority. Were excited to be able to safely offer camps onsite at VisArts this year. Everyone in our facility must adhere to our COVID-19 Safety Guidelines

ArtVenture Summer Camp takes place in VisArts’ 17 professional art studios. Teachers and volunteers are well-trained on how to use equipment and keep students safe.  Every studio has a first aid kit and there are safety stations throughout the building with additional first aid kits and eye wash stations.

VisArts staff are trained to provide CPR and basic first aid. For anything requiring more than a Band-Aid, VisArts staff will contact parents or guardians and complete an incident report form.

For medical emergencies, VisArts staff will call 911 and will then call parents or guardians and emergency contacts.

VisArts has emergency plans in place for fire, weather or other building emergencies.

Any person 18 years of age or older associated with or employed by any public or private organization responsible for the care, custody or control of children is required by law to report suspected instances of child abuse and neglect (§63.2-1509 of the Code of Virginia). VisArts staff and instructors are informed of this code and adhere to this practice of mandatory reporting.

Our Values

VisArts strives to be welcoming to all people. We want to be a place where anyone can explore their creativity and feel comfortable and supported.  We are always growing and learning and welcome questions and feedback.

You can read more about our values in our Education Philosophy and in our statement on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

We ask that every member of our community adheres to our Code of Conduct.

Please feel free to contact our education team at education@visarts.org with any feedback, questions or concerns.
