Classes

Metalworking (Ages 12-14)

Try working with metal and traditional metalworking tools. We’ll explore different ways to cut metal safely and bend it accurately, then we’ll try texturing, hammering and stamping. Students ages 9-11 will focus on cold connection (learning to drill, rivet, and friction fit), then they’ll create and fasten their own metal designs. Students ages 12-14 will also have the opportunity to light the acetylene torch and use it to soften or anneal and or solder. Learn the skills, tools and techniques to create individual sculptural works of your own.

Special Notes

  • Students will use air-dry clay, so work may be brought home on Friday.

This is an On-site course. Students must follow current CDC + VDH guidance outlined on our website: visarts.org
