ONSITE: Lessons in Classical Painting for Oils

Discover the benefits of classical painting! This class is beneficial for students who want to improve their overall painting skills, no matter their individual style of painting (representational or abstract). This class will stress the process of indirect painting and the importance of using an underpainting for improved results. Weekly topics will include value, composition, lighting subjects, form painting using geometric solids, glazing techniques, manipulating edges, understanding color characteristics and relationships, developing a color palette, and the importance and process of painting a master copy. Students will create a master copy of choice and several small technique paintings throughout the session. Students are welcome to bring individual photos for reference.

Special Notes

  • This class has been designed for students of all painting levels but some prior experience with oils may be helpful.
