The Visual Arts Center of Richmond will open its annual [work] exhibition on Friday, July 7 with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. in the center’s True F. Luck Gallery. The exhibition runs through August 27.
[work] features the art of faculty, staff and board members of the Visual Arts Center. Pieces are juried by VisArts’ interim gallery manager, Gina Cavallo Collins. Collins has more than 25 years of experience in the arts, primarily working in museums and as an independent curator and arts writer. She has worked for the Phoenix Art Museum and the Heard Museum, was a founding curator at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and helped transform the exhibition program at the Shemer Art Center and Museum. In Richmond, she has previously worked for the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
The exhibition represents examples of all media taught at VisArts’ 1812 West Main Street building, including: wood, ceramics, metal, jewelry, fiber, glass, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, creative writing, film and digital media.
