ONSITE: Gum Printing: Colorful Photographic Printing (this class is only offered a few times a year)
Gum printing (aka Gum bichromate) is a painterly photographic pigment process stretching back to the 19th century. This class will introduce multi-layer contact printing techniques that utilize easily accessible analog and digital photographic technologies. Learn how to make your own digital negatives and safely prepare chemicals used. We'll discuss color theory and produce beautiful color photographic prints.
Special Notes
- Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
Students will need to bring digital photographs they'd like to make into a digital negative. We will cover chemical safety for using potassium dichromate.
This is an On-site course. Students must follow current Covid-19 protocols, as outlined on our website. On-site courses do not come with studio access outside of class time. Paid open studio access is available through our Studio Access Program. Please visit visarts.org for more information.
