Design and create one holiday card while learning about the history of 18th century paper quilling (quilling filigree) and how the art form has evolved. Students will use strips of paper that are rolled into coils, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. We'll also learn to use quilling tools and techniques to manipulate paper into various shapes.

Create a one-of-a-kind handmade wreath to display for the holidays. Using a dried vine base, fabric, paper and plant material, students can experiment with design and composition to make a unique wreath arrangement to take home. Students are also encouraged to bring in small found objects from home to include in their wreath design.

In our time together, we will practice the art of folding paper into two- and three-dimensional stars. We will learn, practice, and perfect 3-4 different folding techniques. We will also be painting clay stars—air dry clay, pre-rolled, cut, and dried—to compliment our finished wall art/mobiles.
